KEN CAMPBELL WINS CBD MEN’s 60 & OVER SINGLES

The CBD Men’s 60 & Over Singles was played over 2 days on the 2 well prepared grass greens at Seymour VRI on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th November. In what started out as a beautiful Remembrance Day on Wednesday on a nicely paced 15 second greens unfortunately finished with wet weather closing in to complete the day, although getting wet the players pushed through to get to the semi-final stage for day two which was to be played at the same venue on Thursday 12th November.

With only 10 entrants from the CBD’s 8 clubs, on day 1 Round 1 saw only 2 matches required to be played along with 6 byes whilst the 4 Round 2 matches were also to be completed on day 1.

Round 1 Results

Greg Cowan (Wallan) defeated Ken Argent (Alexandra) comfortably winning in just 16 ends 21 to 2.

Ian Eichfuss (Seymour) defeated Wayne Flint (Seymour VRI) 22 to 8 again in quick time over 15 ends.

Round 2 Results

Neal Taylor (Broadford defeated Jim Bruce (Broadford) 21 to 16 in 18 ends.

Jim Hinchcliffe (Broadford) defeated Zac Hapeta (Wallan) 21 to 12 over 20 ends.

Ken Campbell (Kilmore) defeated Alan Langdon (Kilmore) 22 to 17 over 20 ends.

Ian Eichfuss (Seymour) defeated Greg Cowan (Wallan) 21 to 10 over 19 ends.

Day 2

Semi-final Results

Ken Campbell Kilmore) defeated Neal Taylor (Broadford) by walkover, unfortunately Neal was called away to  a family emergency and was unable to play.

Ian Eichfuss (Seymour) defeated Jim Hinchcliffe (Broadford) 22 to 16 over 18 ends in a very competitive game.

Final Results

Ken Campbell  whilst only winning 8 of the 19 ends played  dominated the match after trailing 8 to 14 at the completion of the 13th end went on to dominate the match over the final 6 ends scoring 13 shots to Ian’s 2 shots to run out the victor 21 to 16.

Ken will now go on to represent the Central Bowls Division at the Central Goulburn Murray Bowls Region Finals at a venue in the Goulburn Valley some time in February 2021 with the winner of that going on to the State Finals at Bendigo in April 2021.
